Following the resignation this morning on health grounds of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed, President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria to replace the departed CJN.
In a brief ceremony held at the presidential villa, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari performed the swearing ceremony of Justice Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria based on his seniority in status to former CJN Tanko Mohammed.
The ceremony was witnessed by members of the federal executive council as well as justices of the supreme court among several others.
it would be recalled that Justice Olukayode Ariwoola led a team of Justices of the supreme court only recently to protest the poor conditions of service of Justices of the supreme court and levelled allegations of corruption against the leadership of former CJN Tanko Mohammed, which he stoutly denied.
