OSUN 2022: GROUP COMMENDS INEC, SECURITY AGENCIES, OSUN PEOPLE FOR PEACEFUL ELECTION
The independent National Electoral commission (INEC), security agents as well as the people of Osun state have been commended for the peaceful conduct of the gubernatorial election that took place in the state on Saturday 16th July 2022.
The commendation was made by the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release issued and signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, who described the outcome of the election as the will of the people, stressing that ‘it was a free, fair and credible election’.
The group posited that INEC should be appreciated for the speedy and timely distribution of electoral materials, as well as the smooth conduct of the election, while the security agencies should be praised for the professional conduct displayed before, during and after the election.
The group noted that the people of Osun displayed strong will to vote for their governor in a peaceful manner devoid of violence.
However, the group frowned at and condemned the menace of vote buying which occured during the election and called for a multi stakeholders engagement to address this disturbing trend in our election.
On the outcome of the election, CAIDOV described it as the wish of the people and a democratic decision made in a peaceful process and congratulated the winner, as well as other contestants for a violence free election.
